Dr . Yuliya Alterman Named Attending of the Year
Congratulations to Dr . Yuliya Alterman who was awarded Attending of the Year at NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine in 2015 . Dr . Yuliya Alterman started her dental residency at Lutheran Medical Center in 2010 and became Chief Resident in 2011 . She was also awarded Resident of the Year in 2011 and received the Annual Anthony L . DiMango Award for Excellence in Oral Surgery in 2012 at NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine .
••• NYU Lutheran Dental Faculty Selected as Pierre Fauchard Academy Fellows
Congratulations to Drs . Anson Kwong and Ryan Yamanaka for being inducted as Fellows to the Pierre Fauchard Academy . The induction was held on Saturday , August 22 , 2015 at the 2015 Pierre Fauchard Academy Northern California Section Annual Awards and New Fellows Luncheon at the University of Pacific Dental School during the recent California Dental Association ( CDA ) Presents . Dr . Kwong has been a faculty for NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine AEGD Program at Asian Health Services since its inception . He is instrumental in the training of all phases of dentistry , especially in the area of restoration and the placement of implants at the health center . Dr . Ryan Yamanaka is a staff endodontist at the clinic and has also been with the program since its inception . Dr . Yamanaka lectures and has hosted hands-on workshops for California AEGD residents .

Dental Director Appointed to Faculty Development Board
Congratulations to Dr . Rob Doherty , Dental Director at Greene County Health Care in North Carolina . Dr . Doherty was appointed to the Faculty Development Board at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine in September 2015 .
••• PEDS Resident Selected to Attend NAM Workshop
Congratulations to Dr . Serena Kankash , PEDS 2016 alumna , Holyoke Health Center , MA , who was selected to attend the Nasoalveolar Molding & Columella Elongation Workshop sponsored by the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at NYU Medical Center last October 2015 . This 2-day intensive workshop focused on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care for children born with cleft lip and palate . The program provided hands on training in the fabrication of a bilateral nasoalveolar molding appliance and drew on the expertise and research of NYU Faculty and Staff who are currently providing state of the art therapy . Thank you to the alumni , faculty , and staff who contributed to the Pediatric Dentistry fund allowing the Department to pay for the course and offer a $ 500 stipend to cover hotel , travel , and meal expenses for Dr . Kankash .

Congratulations to Dr . Rhonda Switzer-Nadasdi , Executive Director at Interfaith Dental Clinic in Nashville Tennessee , one of NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine AEGD training sites . Dr . Switzer-Nadasdi was chosen as the Bank of America CEO of the Year in October 2015 for fostering the agency ’ s growth from a part-time , volunteer-run clinic to a two-site operation with 15 treatment rooms , 36 staff members and 300 volunteers .
