NYU Lutheran Dental ’ s programs have been instrumental in bringing much needed and highly skilled oral healthcare to underserved communities in regions throughout the US — regions that are plagued with crippling comorbidities associated with poor hygiene and lack of access to preventive medical and dental care .
During the 2015-2016 residency year , growth and expansion created a total of 340 AEGD training , rotational and educational enrichments sites and an increase in Pediatric Dentistry training sites to 13 .
Since 2014 , the number of unique patients treated grew from 463,000 to 617,600 individual patients , an increase of patients served by 33 %. The number of treatments delivered / procedures completed by NYU Lutheran Dental residents during that same frame increased from 1.5 million to 1.75 million — valued at nearly $ 260 million .
Total valuation of the NYU Lutheran Dental program in 2015 / 2016 including grants during the 2015 / 2016 year was estimated at $ 320 million .
