Dr . Anthony Caputo
Approaching two decades of mentorship and greater committment to the field of Anesthesiology
Dr . Anthony Caputo is one of the longest employed faculty with NYU Lutheran Dental AEGD . His long affiliation with our program started with the AEGD Program in 1998 ! Anthony , AEGD Senior Associate Director of the Southwest Region , Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology is very busy supporting and mentoring residents , fighting for and teaching residents about equal and compassionate treatment for Developmentally and Intellectually Disabled Individuals in Arizona , instructing and educating residents about proper use of anesthesia in Arizona and Alabama and so much more :
i Anthony works with El Rio Pediatric Residents providing training and clinical
supervision with General Anesthesia provision for children .
i He also works with El Rio and ASDOH AEGD Residents providing anesthesia
services for adults with DD / ID so these patients can receive needed dental treatment .
i As a valued senior faculty member , Anthony provides training for AEGD
Residents in Oral Conscious Sedation and IV Conscious Sedation . For the past two years , he has worked with Dr . Michael McCracken and his residents at The Foundry in Bessemer , AL to ensure that the residents are wellversed in critical conscious sedation skills . Last year Anthony taught AEGD Residents and AEGD Faculty Oral Conscious Sedation in Central and Southern Arizona and will continue this training annually . i Furthermore , Anthony teaches local anesthesia , nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation
and medical emergencies for dental students at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health and the Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health .
i Because of his strong commitment to the community and dental excellence ,
Anthony is Speaker of the House for the Arizona Dental Association as well as an ADA Delegate from Arizona .
i As a subject matter expert in anesthesia , Anthony is an anesthesia
examiner and anesthesia expert for the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners . In addition , he provides CE courses in sedation , anesthesia and medical emergencies locally , nationally and internationally .
i In his ‘ spare ’ time , Anthony is writing two chapters on Patient Evaluation and
Assessment and Sedation Strategies for a forthcoming textbook on Dental Sedation .
