Superintendent’s Message to the Community We have accomplished many positives this school year which are worthy of highlighting:  Accreditation - Biddeford High School received a continued accreditation by the Committee on Public Secondary Schools of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The Association works with individual schools to improve the quality of education through a continuous process of evaluation and accreditation, and I am proud of the administration for their diligence in ensuring our renewal.  Community Engagement Coalition - This coalition was established as a direct result of a grant from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. Thanks to the community’s feedback, we formed the inaugural Tiger PRIDE awards focusing on our values, created financial literacy courses, and trialed a job shadow program at the local mill businesses, among many other initiatives.  Fundraising - In 2016, the School Department raised $350,072 in cash donations and pledges. This is phenomenal, and I would like to personally thank the donors who are acknowledged in this issue. I would be remiss if I didn’t offer a fond farewell to Danielle Ripich, president of the University of New England. I have had the pleasure of working with Danielle to estab- lish articulation agreements for dual enrollment in which our students can matriculate to college with sophomore standing. These save our students and their families thousands of dollars and give them the opportunity for a head start on earning higher education credits. We have also had the opportunity to assist them with their student teacher in- ternships within our schools which has benefited both our teachers and students. I look forward to a continued partnership with the new president, Dr. James Herbert.
