Nepal Mission Trip
Greater New York Dental
Association
Senior leadership, faculty, residents,
staff, and alumni gathered to celebrate
the year during a reception held at the
Greater New York Dental Meeting in
November 2016 at the Marriott Marquis
in New York City. GNYDM is one of the
largest Dental Congresses in the world
and features educational programs led
by highly regarded educators in the field
of dentistry. Leadership in attendance
included Drs. Bernard Tolpin, former
Vice President of Dental Medicine,
Neal Demby, Senior Vice President of
NYU Langone Hospitals, Postdoctoral
Dental Residency Program, and
Anthony DiMango, Senior Vice
President, Chief of Dentistry, and
Co-Director of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery.

Various faculty members, residents,
and alumni volunteered their time to
participate in a mission trip, sponsored by
Global Dental Ambassadors, to the South
Asian country of Nepal in February 2017.
Nepal has only a few hundred dentists to
serve a population of 28 million.

AAE Meeting
Give Kids a Smile
Faculty and residents from the Heart of Texas Community
Health Center participated in Give Kids a Smile, a program
that provides free dental care to low-income, uninsured
children in Waco, Texas.
Endodontics program faculty members,
residents, and alumni gathered at a reception
held at the American Association of
Endodontists Annual Meeting, April 27, 2017
in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event, has
grown each year, with more alumni, faculty,
and prospective students in attendance.
Several alumni shared their memories with
the group and recognized the leadership of
Program Director, Dr. Robert Goldberger.

Ana L. Gonzalez, DDS (PGY-2 AEGD Resident and GKAS
Event Coordinator), Clifton Martin, DDS (Dental Director
and GKAS Event Chairperson) and Suzzane Horani, DDS
(PGY-1 AEGD Resident and GKAS Event Ambassador) from
NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine's AEGD Program at the
Heart of Texas Community Health Center helped coordinate
a day of volunteering on Friday, February 3, 2017 to "Give
Kids A Smile" in Wac o, TX.
