The NYU Langone Hospitals Dental Residency Program has been instrumental in bringing much needed and highly skilled oral healthcare to underserved communities across the US — regions that are plagued with crippling comorbidities associated with poor hygiene and lack of access to preventive medical and dental care .

During the 2016-2017 residency year , patients were treated in 340 AEGD training , rotational , and educational enrichment sites and 13 Pediatric Dentistry training sites .
In the past year , the number of unique patients served grew from 617,600 to 691,700 individual patients . The number of treatments delivered / procedures completed by the NYU Langone Dental residents during that same time frame increased from 1.75 million to 1.81 million — valued at nearly $ 292 million .
Total valuation of the NYU Langone Dental Residency Program in 2016 / 2017 including grants received during the year was estimated at $ 338 million .
