T
he NYU Langone Hospitals Dental
Residency Program has been
instrumental in bringing much
needed and highly skilled oral healthcare
to underserved communities across the
US—regions that are plagued with crippling
comorbidities associated with poor hygiene
and lack of access to preventive medical
and dental care.
During the 2016-2017 residency year,
patients were treated in 340 AEGD
training, rotational, and educational
enrichment sites and 13 Pediatric Dentistry
training sites.
In the past year, the number of unique
patients served grew from 617,600 to
691,700 individual patients. The number
of treatments delivered/procedures
completed by the NYU Langone Dental
residents during that same time frame
increased from 1.75 million to 1.81
million—valued at nearly $292 million.
Total valuation of the NYU Langone
Dental Residency Program in 2016/2017
including grants received during the year
was estimated at $338 million.
