TURNING ORDINARY INTO EXTRAORDINARY Region Greater Outreach Extraordinary Impact PERCENTAGE Treatments by Region Treating More Patients & on Community Health T he NYU Langone Hospitals Dental Residency Program has been instrumental in bringing much needed and highly skilled oral healthcare to underserved communities across the US—regions that are plagued with crippling comorbidities associated with poor hygiene and lack of access to preventive medical and dental care. During the 2016-2017 residency year, patients were treated in 340 AEGD training, rotational, and educational enrichment sites and 13 Pediatric Dentistry training sites. In the past year, the number of unique patients served grew from 617,600 to 691,700 individual patients. The number of treatments delivered/procedures completed by the NYU Langone Dental residents during that same time frame increased from 1.75 million to 1.81 million—valued at nearly $292 million.
