How We Met

It was technically a blind date. A very close friend of mine said her husband’s boss was lovely and she said she wanted to introduce us. I agreed and the next day I received a text from Gary suggesting we meet up for a dinner. He took me to dinner that Saturday night and even from that first date it was clear that we shared a lot of interests and had similar values and goals in life

Gary told me he wanted to marry me after less than five months on our first holiday in Sicily. I knew he meant it as we spent all our free time together and we were both very happy.

We decided not to get engaged straight away as we had been in a little cocoon in our relationship and both wanted to get to know each other’s families better. We did start looking at venues though in the summer eight months after we met and in July, we booked the venue we wanted for February 14th 2014.

Gary planned the formal engagement down to the last detail and I didn’t know when it would happen.

He asked my Dad's permission and one weekend when we were in Berlin, he took me up TV Tower for champagne so that we could see Berlin at night.

When we were up there, he told me he had my Dad's permission and this was as close as he could get to my mum (who had passed away in 2007). He also had my dads’ blessing to us to use my Mums engagement ring which I had told him I wanted to do.
