The Bridal Gown

I was really trying to keep the cost of my dress down so I didn't want to spend more than about £800. Not impossible, but difficult in the UK bridal market. Having done lots of research online, I fell in love with a dress from David's Bridal. As it would be coming from the US, I had to order it without trying it on at their London store. Very risky- and I wouldn't recommend it as it was quite stressful. However, when it came, the dress was perfect and I was so pleased with it. I then had minor alterations made by a local seamstress.

As the dress was quite detailed I chose a very plain, sheer veil by Sassi Holford and no other accessories other than small earrings.

From the outset I wanted silver strappy sandals that I could wear again so I had the brainwave of looking at Latin dancing shoes.

Silver strappy sandals are fairly easy to find on the high street but they're not generally very comfortable and I thought dancing shoes might be a good option. I found a style called Rebeca by Volver and they were absolutely brilliant- I wore a four inch heel all day with no issues whatsover, and they were such a lovely simple design.

The Bridal Party

We had seven bridesmaids ranging in age from one to ten (we have two daughers and five nieces) and they all looked adorable in the exact purple to match the guys' kilts and ties.

I found the dresses in debenhams and couldn't believe our luck when they were an exact colour match and such a pretty style.
