5.. Keep Some Cake!

Save some of the cake for the day after so the couple get to enjoy their special cake with their family and friends (especially if you're having a party the day after). Some people like to keep the top tier for an anniversary or christening

6 Floral Touches

You may prefer to have everything on the cake edible. Fresh flowers can wilt by the time you come to cut the cake, so choose carefully. Sugar flowers will look fresh and real throughout the day. They can also be reused long after your wedding.

17 Special Diets

Most cake designers are happy to cater for all dietary requirements, just ask! Some cakes may contain nuts (carrot cake), but these can be omitted.

8. Dessert Table

It is becoming increasing trendy to have some desserts or treats to accompany the wedding cake or even replace it. A dessert table for adults is like a candy table for children.

Because the items are individual, dessert tables can become

expensive.

9. Time to Eat!

It is also becoming more popular to cut the cake (and even serve) in the drinks reception when the couple arrives at the venue. The cake is appreciated with cup of tea or a glass of bubbly and it won’t be lost in a large room. If you’d prefer to have your cake on show during the meal, ensure it is the centrepiece.

Display it in the middle of the room or beside the top table, away from fire exits and dark corners. Style the table with flowers and foliage, candles, ribbons etc. Talk to your venue or cake designer about styling the table.

10. Delivery

Be sure to ask what the delivery charge is, as this can vary. Is the cake designer delivering the cake or is it arriving by courier?
