We asked Katharina for her tips on choosing flowers for your bouquets and arrangements.

When choosing flowers for your wedding, of course you have to consider the availability of colours to match your theme.

Although many types of flowers are available all year around thanks to hothouses, some strong colours such as turquoise might be better matched to silk flowers.

Brooch bouquets using silk flowers are becoming more popular and can allow lasting creativity.

Fresh flowers, of course have their beautiful scent. Here are some points to consider when choosing between fresh flowers and silk brooch bouquets-

Silk brooch bouquets

-You can keep your bouquet, and display in a frame or in glass cabinet.

-They are not scented, which may suit you if you have allergies

-They wont get damaged during the big day -some photographers can be a bit rough with bouquets!

-You can buy them months in advance

-You can get silk flowers in almost every colour

-Silk brooch bouquets can be more expensive because of the price of the brooches. Quality silk flowers can be quite expensive!

-They don't give you the scent of natureā€¦.

-Some silk flowers can look fake.

-They can be quite heavy to hold

With artificial flowers you might be restricted with the look you want to create. You can't have a wild/natural look with brooch bouquets.

For a more wild, hand-tied look, it is best to use fresh flowers.

Some artificial roses can look fabulous and quite realistic, but nothing beats a luxurious freshly cut deep red rose!

If you cant make up your mind, have a fresh flower bouquet with brooches!
