High School News

Third quarter is in full swing at the high school and junior high. Our students have done an outstanding job in maintaining high attendance this year. In the months that are typically our leanest for attendance, our students average being in school 95 percent of the time. This is a great average! Keep encouraging your students to maintain strong attendance.

Our extracurricular clubs and organizations are also excelling in several areas. Our Future Business Leaders of America students continue to perform very well at the district and state level. We took almost 60 students to compete at district competition. Our competitors are now preparing for another successful run at FBLA State. Both junior high and high school Student Council are also preparing for their state conventions as well.

Both of these organizations have made great contributions to our school and community with service projects and leadership events throughout the winter season. Our Interact Club has also participated in several service events. Earlier this month, members assisted with packing food for the Backpack Buddies program for students in our area.

It truly is a great time to be a Blue Jay. Our students, teachers, and staff are well on the way to making the 2015-2016 school year very successful. Make sure to check out our calendar to catch an activity or athletic event. We have so many reasons to be proud of our school and our community.

West Platte students were grateful to live in such a supportive and kind school community that support others in the area.

School Play

Our students will be performing a comedy written by William Shakespeare. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will be presented on March 6th and 7th at 7 pm in the West Platte High School Performing Arts Center. The cost for admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
