Bareness

“I yearned for something whole and beautifully consistent

Like light shining onto bare skin in the early morning —

Universal relevance, adenomas,

A body in rhythm with the undertones,

A clockwork backwards,

A silent steam room or jarring asthma, I suppose.

I suppose I yearned for something of special relativity,

Some gliding movement or emotional force with simplicity —

Accuracy and efficiency,

Academic candidacy,

A handheld atrocity.

I yearned for something far-sighted but always present

With balance and little change,

Stability, intricacy,

Like light shining onto bare skin.”
