i love your mixtape

by Jake R. Thompson

flicking through a cardboard cutout sugar cube of mixed emotion

feedback squealing tires echoes eardrums lips and chest reverberations

after hours party house with taco trucks waiting on the corner

stumble out the door and waltz together in the snow of flower petals

i think

i'm too drunk

for this

i think

i'm too drunk

for this

baseball card collections fritos crunching underfoot and lining walls with

crumbles

chili cook offs cheese on top and tea bags strewn about an empty living

space

with bits of nugs all wasted in the coffee table cracks that paint the floor

the tv pulled out of the dumpster sparks and whines but it's okay

i think

i'm too drunk

for this

i think

i'm too drunk

for this

when the world spins back

and my legs collapse

you seem to melt about in space

and all i wanna see's your face and when you

pick me up when i wanna fall down and when you

stand me up and you turn me around

your eyes relaxed and your lips

parted just so it's a kiss

that'll sing me

to sleep
