Walk Down Redondo

Walk Down Redondo

It is a feeling I know will go,

that I am in love wherever we are—

along this beach front, like any other

down the coast; for tourists and children

who can’t stick their teeth together fast enough

with saltwater taffy pulled fresh

from the mines of the Pacific.

Few people know fresh taffy

is sourced not unlike sponges;

not unlike this story pulled

from a present far removed

to distract you from the realization

we will never feel quite the same again.
