Eat and Drink Local
I recently began a series of visits to local food and drinks producers and specialists , which are set to
Mark Prisk MP continue over the summer . I will be exploring brands in Bishop ’ s Stortford , Sawbridgeworth and elsewhere in the constituency .
My first stop was to Tealicious tea manufacturers in Bishop ’ s Stortford . Tealicious is a brilliant local example of an innovative drinks company . Their delicious blends make specialist teas accessible to everyone , and their expertise is second to none . Every tea drinker in the constituency is heartily encouraged to sample their creations .
This is the first of many visits on my summer-long tour of local culinary specialists . These will include Foxholes Farm , Guy and Wright ’ s tomatoes and the dessert brand , Gu .
I hope foodie constituents follow the journey on my social media , join the conversation about what local produce means to us , and can engage with more resident brands like the brilliant Tealicious .
Modernising our hospital care
Updating our hospital facilities is important . In 2003 we saw the Herts & Essex Community Hospital in Bishop ’ s Stortford updated and expanded . To our West the Lister Hospital has seen a series of investments across a range of new facilities . The one exception is the Princess Alexandra Hospital ( or PAH ) in Harlow . Now that could change .
I have been supporting the campaign to see the PAH be rebuilt and improved . My Parliamentary colleague from Harlow , Robert Halfon , has been leading the way – rightly as it ’ s in his constituency . However many local people from Bishop ’ s Stortford , Sawbridgeworth and the surrounding villages use the PAH on a regular basis , so I ’ ve added my voice to the campaign .
If realised the plans would see the existing buildings completely replaced elsewhere in the town with a larger , modern health campus . It would create the opportunity both to improve health services and to expand the facilities .
It ’ s also linked to an exciting plan for a broader medical campus with training facilities for a range of clinical roles . That would help the hospital recruit and retain the best staff . There is still a way to go , but now is the time to make the case .

What is it ?
Join other talented young musicians for 3 days playing and learning about big band music , including classic swing repertoire , ensemble skills and improvisation workshops . The course will be led by award winning musicians James Brady and Charlie Bates . They are both highly experienced performers , composers and educators who work at the top end of the British music scene every day .
When is it ?
7-9 August , 10:30-16:00 ( informal performance 16:00-17:00 on final day ) at Hockerill Anglo-European College , Bishop ’ s Stortford , CM23 5HX
How to I apply ?
If you play one of the instruments below to grade 5 standard or above and are aged between 11-25 you can apply at bit . ly / eybigband

The course costs just £ 135 for 3 days of exciting music workshops . All staff are DBS checked and a First Aider will be present throughout .
