COSMETIC SURGERY
MEN & COSMET IC SERVICE
In the past, majority of the patients coming in for cosmetic services were women.
However, in recent years, there has been a trend that more and more men are seeking cosmetic enhancement through various treatment options. Dr. Jed Horowitz talks
about how his practice treats male patients with special considerations and care to
make them feel confortable about getting their Cosmetic procedures done.
Demand for Cosmetic Surgery is growing
A
ccording to a recent study from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons
(ASPS), there were more than 15.1 million cosmetic surgery procedures
performed in 2013. That’s up roughly 3% from the previous year and the
rate of growth doesn’t look to be slowing down. Along with cosmetic procedures,
reconstructive surgery is also up 2% from 2013. The reason for the growth has
been attributed to better technological advances, better products and the public’s
positive attitude towards cosmetic surgery.
The ASPS President, Robert X. Murphy, MD states “The demand for plastic surgery remains strong, with our statistics showing increases in both cosmetic surgical and minimally-invasive procedures. Facial procedures were especially robust
last year, with more Americans opting for facelifts, forehead lifts, eyelid surgery,
fillers and peels. With new devices and products hitting the market each year,
there are more options and choices available to consumers wanting to refresh
their look or a little nip and tuck.”

W
hen men come in, especially ,
for the first time, for any sort
of cosmetic treatment, they’re
a little bit more shy about what they’re
having done. Maybe they’re a little bit
reluctant. They think they’re indulging
themselves a little bit too much. So our
office is designed to be a comfortable
environment for all of these patients including men that are coming in. We’re
very gentle on our inquiries about why
they’re coming in and what their needs
are. We’re sensitive to their needs. We
have a very private setting so we’re not
in a very busy place where there are a
lot of people coming and going. we have
created a environment that’s very easy
and welcoming for patients to come in.
We spent a lot of time and a lot of thought
going into the design. We think we hit
that happy medium.
