Camp Promise BY THE THERAPY TEAM The week of June 18th the Little Light House Therapy Team hosted their 3rd annual summer camp. This year’s theme was Camp Promise. The gym was transformed through tents, trees, and pillow camp fires into an extraordinary early learning environment of summer camp. And of course T-shirts for camp were a must! Highlights Camp was based around the story of Moses. Two classes at a time spent their day in the gym learning all the promises God has for their lives. Speech, language and augmen- tative communication were incor- porated into camp using LAMP (Language Aquisition through Motor Planning). Each child was able to write about the many ways God teaches. Some kids shared that God teaches them how to love and share things. Others told us that God teaches them how to play, paint or cook! Many great activities designed to help our kids work on fine motor, visual motor, gross motor, and language skills, while incorporating sensory play took place at camp. Our kiddos had so much fun growing in their abilities and hanging out with all their friends from school! We can’t wait for next year! Lynda Crouch, LLH Assistive Technology Coordinator, set up a special tent for vision in- tervention with a switch adapt- ed campfire inside. The kids enjoyed playing with lights to stimulate their vision and to practice their cause and effect skills.
