Sue Lohery and I have had
the pleasure of co-chairing
the Canoe Fest Princess
contest for four years. Work-
ing with our county’s young
ladies is so rewarding. We’re
proud to see all of the past
and present participants in
this fine group represent
themselves as positive role
models for their peers and
younger girls. The Canoe
Fest Princess booth, a fund-
raiser for FC CAN, was fully
stocked with some of the
things little future princesses
need to be pampered. In addi-
tion to sparkly painted nails,
face painting, and of course
custom bedazzled tiaras, pho-
tos showed the 2018 Frank-
lin County 4-H Fair Queen
Ingrid Miller, 3rd runner-up
in her court Alexa Brehm,
Indiana’s Festival Queen
Alyson Gouveia, Canoe Fest
Princess Shaden Galyen, 1st
runner-up Allyson Andre,
2nd runner-up Moorea
Nobbe, and Miss Congenial-
ity Sophie Garrett. Snow
White even made a special
appearance. On the fair’s
Family Fun night, the Queen
court challenged the Princess
court to a mud tug of war.

fight, but the Queens quickly
claimed the victory. The prin-
cesses didn’t seem too upset
with the loss since they got to
play in the mud a bit.
We did exceptionally well
at the pie eating contest. After
facing a whole pie, I’m pretty
sure that it will be a long time

Thanks to everyone for
reading The Beacon articles
and the news. It is all very
interesting and good reading.
I’m sitting outside enjoying
the lovely day. I was watching
the farming across the road.
Watching them work with all
that big equipment is fasci-
nating. Sometimes they stop
to fix something or just look
around and think about what
needs to be done next. We live
in a rural area in Logan with
a lot of farming all around.
I could say it’s my favorite
spot.
before I want to eat a piece of
chocolate pie. Thanks for an-
other year of special memories
and new friendships.
On a short gardening note, I
planted mint in one of my con-
tainers for th
