On the scene was budding journalist Autumn Mitchell covering for me while I was on vacation , and this is what she found .
Manchester ballfields were buzzing with activity on July 14 , celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the Manchester
Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue ( MTVFR ). Members new and old were all appreciated for the work they have done .
Manchester ’ s Fire Department has gone through many changes , from equipment to the members they have now . This department has always been both fire and rescue . Some of the original members decided a rescue unit was needed , so they raised the money to buy an old squad .
The past has become the present department that we have now . Manchester would not be the town it is now

I hope by the time this reaches you , all pencils have been sharpened and the transition from lazy summer days to the more regimented routines was smooth .
Harrison ’ s dwindling summer nights were still in full swing this past month . The hottest day of the year did not stop the July 4th parade in Historic Downtown . The parade lined up at 3:00 pm and cheers followed the procession wherever it went . Family entertainment and refreshments were enjoyed by all . Live music in the background helped everybody forget about the heat as we celebrated our freedom . A colorful fireworks show concluded the night to ensure the day was a blast !
The weather during the annual Wine Walk on the Avenue , presented by the
District , had some worried that it would be a complete washout . The event was everything but ! As tents were being set up , strong winds and thunder showed no sign of stopping . Instead of canceling the yearly event , community leaders quickly collaborated to move the entire venue . The Harrison Fire Department generously opened their bay area in their firehouse to accommodate the large crowd . Eager vino sippers sampled wine from four local wineries accompanied by note-worthy appetizers . Many felt the background of hanging firemen hats and equipment made the event even more interesting and enjoyable !
Looking forward , does your family love the challenge of figuring out clues and solving challenges ? The Amazing Race will take place on September 1 at 12:00 pm at Miami Whitewater . The around-thepark family adventure is free . Sign up early to grab a spot .

without the MTVFR . Yes , people have lost their lives in the line of duty ; some have been in life-or-death situations . EMTs like Erin Jordan have been able to save those lives , along with the firefighters , such as David Jordan and Kevin Havlin . These men and women have made such a difference in this township , and they will for many , many years to come .

education in criminal justice .
I made it back in time for the “ Cruisin ’ For Cromer ” benefit on July 27 . In memory of their son Brandon , off-road adventurer , Roger and Aimee Cromer brought together over one hundred people and businesses for raffle donations . One hundred thirty jeeps , ATVs , and trucks came together for seventy miles of backroads , creeks , and FUN ! Five hundred people were in attendance , and they raised over $ 10,700 . These funds will provide for the Brandon Tyler Cromer Memorial Scholarship to be given to high school seniors who impact other ’ s lives the way Brandon has impacted so many .
The Cromers would like to thank everyone who came to this event . “ We are overwhelmed with the turnout and how much money was raised for our son ’ s scholarship fund . We also want to thank everyone who helped in any way ; it took an army of people ! A special thanks to the Manchester Fire and Rescue for letting us hold it at their station . This community has been amazing to the Cromer Family . We love our little town .”
I also love Manchester and have been so blessed to be able to share with all of you our community ’ s happenings
