Join me in applauding Oldenburg Academy for being recognized by the Indiana Department of Education , Senator Jean Leising and Representative Cindy Ziemke , both OA alums , for the outstanding 2017 AP scores . 51 % of OA ’ s students achieved a 3 or higher on the AP tests , and OA was one of 71 high schools recognized by the state who had a rate of 25 % or higher . Congratulations to OA ’ s faculty and students on a job well done !
OA ’ s pride was on display as the school bestowed diplomas upon forty graduates in June :
• 70 % achieved the Indiana Academic Honors Diploma
• $ 3.85 million was earned in scholarship dollars
• Three will enter the military - 2 Coast Guard and 1 Army
• Two will attend trade schools
• Thirty-five are headed to college
The Class of 2018 is the first class to complete the OA Internship program where students achieved real-world college-to-career readiness program internship experience through community-partnerships .
Philanthropy is alive and well at OA as its seniors elected to give back to their Alma Mater . They paidit-forward by providing a $ 700 scholarship to a current freshman and pledged to donate $ 3100 to OA over the next four years to support OA ’ s Tuition Assistance Fund . The winning freshman , Stephen Hoff , had his name drawn during the school ’ s Awards Day .
