ECHS Business Students Earn Scholarships
East Central High School offers a Business Academy to students who :
• Earn a B or higher in at least four business courses
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Maintain attendance following the school regulations
• Enroll in the Principles of Business Management capstone course or another accepted alternative
• Earn a B or higher in an AP or dual credit Business Academy course
Students in the Business Academy earn real-world business experience , college credit , and scholarships . The intent of this rigor is for students to develop strong character , build professionalism , and develop leadership skills . Students must complete or currently be enrolled in at least two business courses , fill out an application , and be accepted in the fall .
The Business Academy is a challenging and resourceful opportunity for the students who want to study business in the future . Each year the Business Academy offers scholarships to students participating in the Business Academy . This year five students were awarded scholarships- Erika Dudley , Carly Ficker , Lauryn Helton , Maiah Simon and Alana Witko . Congratulations to these hard-working ladies . They are wished the best of luck in their future endeavors !

The mission of the Ripley County Community Foundation is to assist Ripley County charitable organizations in fulfilling their goals of making Ripley County a vibrant place to live , work , and visit .

Ivy Tech Honors Adjunct Faculty Member
Ivy Tech Community College selected an adjunct faculty member from Lawrenceburg as one of nineteen to receive the eighth annual Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence in Instruction . The 2018 Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence in Instruction winner from Lawrenceburg is Michael Laughlin , Psychology Instructor .

S-DMS - A School to Watch
Sunman-Dearborn Middle School recently celebrated their Schools to Watch recognition . S-DMS is one of seventeen middle schools in Indiana who have achieved this recognition . Schools to Watch brings national recognition to schools who excel in academic excellence , while being developmentally responsive and socially equitable . Congratulations to the students and staff at S-DMS .

3D Printer Club Makes Its Mark

Dearborn County 4-H completed their first 3D printer Club . Liz Beiersdorfer , Dearborn County 4-H Youth Educator , received a grant for the 3D printer club , a 3D printer , leader training , and the curriculum . Dearborn County 4-H is one of only two clubs granted in southeast Indiana .
Students met for ten weeks to work on their projects . Darren Weber , an engineer , and 4-H Volunteer served as project leader while Ellen Bruce , Noah Love , and Tricia Ober helped by assisting participants during class time . Dearborn County 4-H is very thankful to have had such great collaboration on this new project .
Twenty students from fifth- and sixth-grade classes throughout Dearborn County met for pure engineering fun as they explored engineering design with the help of online engineering software . They created 3D projects that solved challenges they identified earlier in the program . They also developed elevator speeches and marketing materials used to pitch their products to parents and grandparents on the last day of the

Several parents thanked 4-H for offering the 3D printer club . One student loved his experience so much that he went to his parent ’ s workplace nearly every day after school to complete online project work . Max Burger , a club participant , commented , “ I enjoyed exploring the engineering software to design my project , and I loved seeing my project come to life through the 3D printer .”
