The Dis- trict and The City of Harrison have just launched new music events this summer. Residents are thrilled to have another venue that is outside where you can enjoy live music and food and drink. Make sure to bring your own chairs to the kid-friendly event. The City of Harrison recently partnered with the Hamilton County Com- munications Center to teach residents how to use the new emergency notification sys- tem called AlertHC. The new alert system allows you to select the types of emergency notifications you would like to receive. The alert system is also tied into “Smart911” where you can enter important information that you want Greendale pool open. The Greendale Garden Club has done a great job planting flowers around the communi- ty. Did you know Greendale has had three public pools? Our new pool, the one built in the early 50’s, and the first one which was in the back of a residence on the corner of Mary Street and Nowlin Avenue. Richard and Evelyn Schulz purchased that house around 1952. I remember go- ing to slumber parties in their home and seeing the outline of the pool in the backyard. It had a deep end and a shallow end for the kiddy pool. This year I have planted my tomatoes in a planter by the garage to keep the squirrels from eating them. Well, guess what- a squirrel was sitting in one of my planters the other night checking out what he will be having for lunch in a couple of months! My hus- band thought that was funny. That’s when I kicked Gracie the cat out of the house and told her to go do her job. Greendale always has a nice Memorial Day service to honor our veterans. This year I would like to honor Terry Cochran for his nine years of active service in the Ma- rines and the Army National LIVE MUSIC!
