As usual , something is always happening in Lawrenceburg in the spring . The Junkin Trail ( an antique , flowers and home decor shopping extravaganza ) was a huge success for two weekends in March . Several Lawrenceburg shops were on the trail and drew great crowds . I grabbed a couple of friends for the Trail , and they were more than willing to come with me because of the promise of a pork tenderloin lunch / breakfast , a piece of pie , and great shopping ..
I saw David and Carrie Lusby at the Home & Garden Show at the Event Center on St . Patrick ’ s Day . We were all grabbing a free tree ( oak and red oak ) given out by Casey ’ s Outdoor Solutions . I typically cannot grow a tree to save my soul , but I thought I would give it a try . Hopefully , I will win one of the many door prizes given away by the vendors . I have known David since he was a teenager and must say he does give the best hugs ever ! So even if I don ’ t win , it is not a day lost .
Congratulations to Emma Pennington and Makenna White of the Lady Tigers Basketball team for being named to the IBCA Honorable Mention Academic All-State . It is wonderful that they were recognized for excelling in both their sport and their studies . It is always bittersweet to attend the sports banquets at the end of a season when teammates bid the seniors farewell . The swim team banquet was no exception . This year ’ s The Eye of The Tiger Award for leadership in the sport of swimming went to senior Jacob Musselman . The most improved swimmer awards went to juniors Jackson McCool and Courtney Edwards . Congratulations students for your many achievements .
The Lawrenceburg Shakespeare Company ’ s presentation of The Little Mermaid at the Lawrenceburg High School auditorium was a great evening of entertainment . Thank you to Susan Herrick ( music director ) and Jennifer Eliason ( director ) for all the tireless hours of work put in to this production . Ariel played by Morgan Budd and

Prince Eric played by Jonah Ruszczewski were favorites of my granddaughter . While all the actors did a great job , I must say Sebastian played by Logan Gilb was my personal favorite .
Now that Easter , 2018 is a holiday of the past , the members of the Pi Chapter of Tri Kappa can rest before they are on to their next project . This year they made three thousand chocolate Easter eggs by hand to sell . Yes , that is correct . They spent two days forming , dipping , decorating and delivering 3000 chocolate candy eggs ! This project started more than twenty-five years ago , allows this organization to contribute money to “ charity , culture , and education ” for the people of this area . All monies made by this egg sale are given away – including , but not limited to , college scholarships for high school seniors .
Many in Lawrenceburg waited in anticipation to watch the I & M towers demolition on March 14 . I must say that I was one of those people . However , I became impatient when the demolition was delayed due to a frozen water pipe . ( Water was needed when the tower fell to keep down the dust .) Impatience took over , and I decided to ditch the whole demolition in favor of dropping off some library books . However , as luck would have it , as I pulled out of the library , lo and behold , the tower fell right in front of my eyes ! So while the more patient people shot

wonderful videos as the tower fell , I have a photo only of the tower standing . That ’ s okay . I don ’ t need a picture . My good fortune of being in the right place at the right time burns in my memory .

In other news from the ‘ Burg , the Sisters of St . Francis are seeking offers from individuals interested in purchasing the Olivia Hall building on the Motherhouse Campus after the former entity withdrew its purchase offer . The Sisters are hoping that local residents who expressed interest in salvaging the building will come forward now that it is available .
Snowfall in March made travel in the ‘ Burg difficult , but the locals look out for each other as they respect the steep hill as one enters the village . As the hill becomes slippery , drivers take turns
