After serving two terms in office , Max the former Mayor of Bright has passed away . The Newfoundland owned by Scott , Kristie , and Marissa Gabbard of Bright ,
Volunteers are needed to spruce up Bright Meadow Community Park . The park is located at 2095 Einsel Road . The park encompasses 18.6 acres . was escorted by the Bright Fire Department to the local vet ’ s office when he could no longer stand and was too large to be carried . Elected by a fund raiser to benefit the Bright Fire and EMS , Max served the community from 2014 to 2015 . Newfoundlands are best known for their giant size , intelligence , strength , calm dispositions , and loyalty . All admirable qualities for a mayor . I knew Max , and he was all of the above . Condolences to the Gabbard family . Max will be missed .
The Masonic Lodge Integrity 763 started the mayoral fund raiser to elect a mayor for Bright . Fashioned after Rabbit Hash , Kentucky , this election was $ 1 a vote and anyone could enter their pet to win the race . I voted many times one year to help prevent a chicken from being elected . I have nothing against chickens , but when I think of respectable mayoral qualities , I ’ d rather be sniffed than pecked . If anyone is so inclined to bring this election back in 2018 , it would add another facet of fun to the festival and a benefit to Bright Fire and EMS .
Bright Meadows Park is always looking for volunteers to keep the grounds well-manicured . If you would like to volunteer , contact the steward of Bright Meadows , Joe Rettig at jrettig @ dearborncounty . in . gov .

Wow ! The Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success ! With Easter so early this year , the hunt was on March 18 . The Easter Bunny was thrilled to see two hundred sixty kiddos participate . The weather cooperated as it was sunny and in the mid 50 ’ s with a little wind . We had three bike winners this year : Shelby 0-2 yr olds , Gabriella 3-4 yr olds , and Melanie in the 8-10 . Unfortunately , we did not have a winner in the 5-7 age group , but we ’ ll be giving the bike away at the 4th of July Bike Parade . Thanks for all families who made this event successful !
