The Volleyball Lady Shiners have completed their season . They won the first game of the Sectional by defeating Jac-Cen-Del 3-0 but then fell to South Decatur 3-1 .
Rising Sun was awarded the 2017 Placemaking Award from Accelerate Indiana Municipalities ( AIM ) to help with its Riverfront Revitalization Project .
Veterans Day will be here soon . Make plans to attend a ceremony where you live . Veterans Day is on Saturday this year , so some programs will be held on Friday or Monday . The program at Rising Sun High School will begin at 8:30 AM on Friday , Nov . 10 . The high school knows how to pay tribute to our veterans with their free breakfast and program . Rising Sun American Legion Post # 59 will host a ceremonial ground breaking at the Veterans Tribute Tower on the riverfront at 3:00 PM to kick off the project for beautiful additions to the grassy area around the tower . At 5:30 PM a free meal and program will be offered at the Rising Sun Community Building for veterans and their families . Please call 812-438-4075 to register .
The Rising Sun Boys Cross Country Team had a great year . Trevor Levi was the Conference Champ with a 16:54 winning time and was chosen as the Most Valuable Runner at the meet . Trevor was a very tough runner all year , and the results show it . Trevor , Nick Koons , and Dalton Vinup were also allconference runners . Trevor Levi won the Sectional with a time of 17:00 and placed high enough at the Regional to go back to the semi-state again this year .
The RSHS Girls Cross Country Team had fun this year , and several runners showed improvement . Kasey Baker was the top runner and made the ORVC team . Lucy Carrigan , who fought health problems all year , was chosen as the Mental Attitude Winner .
Boys soccer season came to an end with a heartbreaking overtime loss to Madison Shawe . All conference for the Shiners in the ORVC were Jake Bovard , Landon Cole , and Matt Martini . Jake Bovard was the leading scorer with twenty-five points .
Girls soccer ended with a loss to Oldenburg in the Class A Sectional 46 championship game . The girls played a great first half , but the Twisters proved to be too much in the second half . All conference players for the Shiners were Kasey Baker , Riley Chipman , Sydney Pitts , and Kinsey Price . The Lady Shiners were ORVC Champs , and Jayden McAlister was named the Co-Mental Attitude Award Winner .
I was sorry to hear about the passing of David Bradley Sr . who was a great family man . His wife , Linda , and I went to St . Lawrence School and LCHS together in Lawrenceburg . He will be missed by many .
Good news- Ron Spurlock came through his heart surgery and is doing well . Ron is one outstanding man and is a County Commissioner in Ohio County . Ron does so much for our veterans and has helped make it possible for many of our veterans to be honored as Hometown Heroes at Cincinnati Reds games . You have to look hard to find two people as nice and Ron and Connie Spurlock . Now he can rejoin our Color Guard for details .

fifteen thousandth story . Many people appreciate the hard work and dedication Bryce and his staff provide to make sure our area athletes are recognized for their efforts in all the sports . They also make it possible for people to be able to view the games on the web site and that ’ s especially great for people who are unable to attend the games and events . Also , sending out a few prayers for his dad , Joe , who has been having some health problems . Joe is one super guy .
I ’ ll be busy with the upcoming Veterans Day programs and want to make sure you get out and attend one of them . Take the kids and grand kids with you . If you can attend one of the programs at their school , they would appreciate it . We can never take for granted what our veterans have done for our nation .
If you have some info you ’ d like to share , e-mail me at risingsun @ goBEACONnews . com . I ’ ll be happy to chat with you .
Take care and stay healthy because that ’ s the key to life . See if there isn ’ t something you can do to make someone ’ s day or life a little easier .

The past few months have been a busy time in Moores Hill . Planning to repave streets and roads and applying for grants to fund the work have been completed . The check has been received , so now the question is when the work will begin .
Also , we continue work at Carnegie . The last four rooms on the second floor have been worked on and cleaned up . New wiring has also been installed .
That was a dirty job . Plaster guys started today . We had a lot of clean up to do on the first floor to have the auditorium ready for a performance by the Cincinnati Playhouse In The Park . I ' m sure you all know how that kind of work dust travels EVERYWHERE . Of course , during this time we had many visitors . Gary Norman , Paul Wonning , John Schuler , and Dottie Goodpaster came to Carnegie to tour the building . Mr . Schuler and Ms . Goodpaster were graduates of Moores Hill High School . Also , part of the Chastain family came for a quick visit when visiting Forest Hill Cemetery and grave of their grandmother . We are getting ready for our annual Thanksgiving dinner and annual Winter Walk and Luminaria December 2 . We are always around for tours and visits from people who just want to visit their old school . We have started a military room for

Operated by a subsidiary of NRT LLC . graduates of MHHS and all of those who went to school at Carnegie . We are requesting 5x7 black and white pictures of veterans and information about the time of service , branch , and where they served . Receiving all of the pictures thus far has been very interesting , but many more pictures are still out there .
Remember that Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will return in May and possibly another time before that date . I ' m rambling so better send this . See you next time !
