Several St . Leon residents participated in the tractor pulls at the recent Franklin County Antique Machinery Show . Don “ Putt ” Bischoff placed last in distance in his pull , so he was awarded the prestigious last place winners belt for this accomplishment ! This award will be passed on each year to the person accomplishing this feat ! Don Huber wasn ’ t able to be with us at the show this year , but he did pop up in several photos ! We had great weather , and everyone had a great time and enjoyed the show .
Congratulations go out to Christy and Blake Bauman on the birth of their daughter , Reagan Lynn . She was born on Oct . 4 . Welcoming her home is her big brother Grayson , grandparents Susan and Jeff Jones , Kathy Bauman , and great-grandma , Ruth Bischoff .
I recently lost a great friend and good neighbor - Christina M . “ Tina ” Weigel . She passed on to be with our Lord on Oct . 1 . Several members of my family worked with Tina – my Mom Nettie Andres at Deddens Bakery , myself and my children , Melissa Barrett , Krista Inman , and Mark Zimmer at Christina ’ s Restaurant . We always had fun at work with Tina there – it was hard work , but Tina made it fun . We will miss her so much !!! Born Nov . 19 , 1964 , she is daughter of Frances and Gerhard Deddens . She married Steve Weigel May 22 , 1993 at St . John the Baptist Church in Harrison , Ohio .
A hard worker , she helped out at the family business , Deddens Bakery . She graduated from Oldenburg Academy and attended the University of Cincinnati . In May of 1986 , at the age of twenty-one , Tina ’ s lifelong dream of owning a restaurant was born . She and her brother Dave opened Christina ’ s Restaurant at the St . Leon exit on I-74 and Highway 1 . Eventually , Dave left to start other businesses , but Tina and her mother continued with the restaurant until 2001 . Tina took time off from the restaurant to be home with her young children but eventually got back into the food business working as the Kitchen Manager at East Central High School .
In her spare time , she was active in her children ’ s endeavors and , in later years ,

O ur became very involved with the Family Career & Community Leaders of America , supporting her daughters at the local and state levels . She was also a “ Tennis Mom ”, a “ Football Mom ,” and a member of the East Central Booster Clubs . Unofficially , she was the family photographer at all family functions , sporting events , and gettogethers . Tina never knew a stranger . If you met her , you became a friend .

Tina ’ s greatest passion was her family . She was happiest having everyone together and even more so when she was cooking for them . Everyone looked forward to receiving the annual Weigel “ goofy family Christmas cards .” I enjoyed them each year – always so creative !
Tina was also proud of her German heritage . An active member of the Kolping Society in Cincinnati , she looked forward to events that required traditional German attire and loved visiting Germany to visit family on several occasions .
She is survived by her husband Steve ; children Brian , Kelly , Elizabeth , and Nick ; father Gerhard Deddens , brother David ( Michelle ) Deddens all of St . Leon ; sisters Rose Linton of Clarkston , Michigan and Lynn Deddens of Sunman and numerous nieces and nephews . She is preceded in death by her mother and brother-in-law Ken Linton .

YORKVILLE & GUILFORD

We all have those people in our lives that really make a difference in whom we are
Christina Weigel or who we become . Christina Deddens Weigel was one of those people for me and so many others . Sadly , on Oct . 1 Tina ’ s life was cut way too short by a complication from surgery .
Understanding how someone so full of life who has given so much of herself would be taken from those that loved her is hard . We just have to trust and pray that God will carry each one as they learn to live without such an important part of their lives .
My friendship with Tina started twenty-three years ago . I was sixteen , got my license , needed money and started working at Christina ’ s Restaurant . I worked five or six days a week for several years . I learned a lot about life just by being around Tina . I quickly learned to multi-task , work as a team , plan ahead , that no job was too big if it was planned out , and mostly to care about people . She was not just my boss ; she was my friend . Tina never met a stranger , and the entire Deddens family embraces the community as friends and family .
As I stood in line for nearly three hours at her visitation ,
I was amazed at the amount of love in the room . Thousands of people came one last time to say goodbye to a person who not only walked through their life but left an impression that will live on in memories of the good times they shared .
Prayers to Steve , Brian , Kelly , Lizzy and Nick and the entire Deddens family as they learn to live again without Tina . I have learned that death cannot take the wonderful memories we have here on earth . I was blessed to know Tina and call her my friend for so long and hold so many wonderful , fun memories .
I would like to wish a Happy Birthday to my Aunt Sally Wells on Oct . 28 and Uncle Obie Wells on Nov . 6 . I hope you both have a happy and healthy year ahead !
