Corporal Bill Johnston
Cpl . Bill Johnston was born in 1932 to Walter and Laura ( Payne ) Johnston . He had one brother , Walter , and two sisters , Ruby Ruble and Marilyn Allen .
Cpl . Johnston attended the old Cochran School in Aurora and graduated from

After my father passed away , my mom was living by herself for the first time in her life . I believe that she was lonely and sometimes uncomfortable in their home . After much discussion , she moved into RidgeWood ’ s Assisted Living . Soon , she began to participate in activities and outings . When she suffered a heart attack , the staff at RidgeWood handled the situation very well . After her hospital stay , she returned to RidgeWood for rehabilitation . Mom now calls RidgeWood home . We are fortunate to have such a wonderful campus in our community ."

Aurora High School in 1950 . He entered the Army in 1952 at Ft . Leonard Wood and was assigned to the 14th Port Division which
Cpl . Johnston loaded and unloaded Navy ships with commodities bound for South Korea and monitored by five Communist countries . He served in the Army from 1952-54 and held the rank of Corporal ( E-4 ). Cpl . Johnston served in Korea at Kunsan in 1953-54 .
He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal , Army Good Conduct Medal , Korean Service Medal , United Nations Korean Service Medal , and Korean Defense Service Medal .
Bill married Diana Lischkge in 1952 . They had two daughters , Susan ( Eric ) Schnebelt and Sally ( Rocky ) Hurley . They have five grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren .

Don Stoll
Don Stoll was born in 1931 to Leonard and Helen ( Neff ) Stoll . He had one sister , Mary Helen McNeely . Mr . Stoll ' s grandfather , William Stoll , operated the Stoll Meat Company in Aurora for sixty-eight years and Grandfather John Neff operated the Neff Shoe Store in Aurora for many years .
Mr . Stoll entered the United States Air Force and served from Oct . 1951 to Aug . 1955 . After basic training at Keesler Air Force Base , he went to school to learn how to be an air traffic controller at Lackland Air Force Base . He was assigned to Travis Air Force Base and then to Matsushima , Japan where the USA was retraining former World War II Japanese combat pilots . One of them was an Ace who had shot down 15 planes in aerial combat . Don was awarded a commendation certificate when he found a pilot that was lost because his
Don Stoll navigation equipment had failed and was able to get him back on track and safely land at the airport in 1955 . Don ’ s rank in the Air Force was Airman First Class .
Mr . Stoll married Marjorie Ann ( Lowe ) in 1951 and then left for the Air Force . They
have six children , twentythree grandchildren , and twelve great-grandchildren .
Don Weber
Don Weber was born in 1928 to Carl and Margaret ( Fischer ) Weber . He had three brothers ; Robert , Jackie , and Bob .
Mr . Weber entered the Army in 1951 and served as

First Class ( PFC ) until 1953 . He took his basic training at Ft . Bragg and finished AIT . Mr . Weber was assigned to Camp Pendleton for deployment to Korea . He served in Korea in 1952-53 .
Mr . Weber can remember a long train ride that was very cold with only chicken wire covering open train cars on their way to Pusan . He served with the 3rd Divison , 8th Army , 703rd Maintenance of the 15th Infantry Recon . Temperatures were brutal with many at the -20 degrees mark and below . He returned to the USA and was assigned to Ft . Carson .
Mr . Weber was awarded the National Defense Service Medal , Republic of Korea Citation , Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars , United Nations Service Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal , along with the Korean Presidential Unit Citation .
Mr . Weber married Betty ( Casino ). They have two daughters , Kathy and Sue , two grandchildren , and five stepchildren and grandchildren .
Harry Webb
Harry Webb was born in
1934 to Lyman and Mary Etta ( Clark ) Webb . He had three brothers : Clyde , Lyman Jr . and Neal , and a half-sister , Martha Dunaway .
Mr . Webb served in the United States Navy from 1953-57 and took training at Bainbridge . He served aboard the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid from 1954-57 and sailed the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea with European stops in Italy , Spain , France , Turkey and Greece .

Mr . Webb married Diana Lynn McIntyre in 1957 and had four children , Donna , Lenora , Melinda , and Darin . They have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren . Diana passed away in 1996 .
Mr . Webb then married Mary Jean Traue in 1999 .
Medals awarded to Mr . Webb include the National Defense Medal , the Navy Good Conduct Medal , Korean Service Medal and United Nations Korean Service Medal .
Mr . Webb is very proud of his service in the Navy and is very patriotic . He supports our troops serving today , especially those serving in harm ’ s way .
Ivan Chipman
Albert Ivan Chipman was born in 1938 to Curtis and Geneva ( Walker ) Chipman . He had three brothers , Curtis Jr ., Melvin , and Norman , along with three sisters : Barbara , Janice , and Sharon .

training at Holman Air Force Base . After finishing his duties in the Air Force as an E-4 , he enlisted in the Army for six years of active duty . He took basic training at Ft . Leonard and then was sent to Ft . Gordon before being assigned to Korea for a fifteen-month tour of duty .
Ivan and his wife , Betty Lou ( Green ), have three daughters , Betty Ann , Sandra Sue and Karen Marie . Betty Lou passed away in 2015 .
The Chipmans were married for over fifty-four years . They have eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren .
Ivan was a faithful member of the Color Guard for many years . Ivan supports our veterans and those serving around the world today in the Armed Forces of the USA .
Jim Buck
Jim Buck was born in 1931 to Jim and Lola ( Allen ) Buck . He had three brothers , Lowell , Garnett , and Arthur , along with five sisters , Irene , Lucille , Helen , Charlotte , and Euzella .
Jim entered the Navy in 1951 and took his boot camp at San Diego . After finishing training , he was sent to the Philippine Islands for one and a half years and then to Japan . He was aboard the APD 132 when it was sent to Vietnam long before
Harry Webb America became
involved in Vietnam .
In 1954 the Americans were sent to load up equipment that the French were sending back because they were getting out of Vietnam . Mr . Buck was awarded the National Defense Service Medal , the Navy Good Conduct Medal , the Korean Service Medal , China Service Medal , and the United Nations Korean Service Medal , along with a Presidential Unit Citation .
Mr . Buck ' s duties included being the helmsman or the person steering the ship . He sailed in the China Sea and all over the Pacific Ocean .
Mr . Buck married Kay ( Wright ) and they have four children , Jeff , Rick , Tirana , and Aaron along with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren . He and Kay reside in Dillsboro .
Mr . Buck is very proud of his service to our nation .
