Students Share Joy with Rocks

North Dearborn Elementary students recently completed an art project called # NDESROCKS . With the guidance of art teacher Julie McAdams , the students decided they wanted to be a part of the new rock craze . Rock hiding was created to bring joy to communities and make people smile . NDES students and faculty decided the project was a worthwhile project in which to become involved .
Rocks were purchased right here in our community with help from Casey ' s Outdoor Solutions in Bright . Students began the project by planning out what they would like to
WE COULD WRITE ADS ALL DAY LONG , BUT JUDY SAYS IT BETTER THAN WE EVER COULD .
I could not have found a better place for my dad during his Alzheimer ’ s journey . I feel as if I have met some very special people who love what they do . Thank you all for loving and taking care of him . You made my life so much easier knowing that he was being well cared for . The people here hold a special place in my heart , and I will be back to visit .”
- Judy , Daughter of Memory Care Resident resolution effort . My best solution for keeping your determination about the changes you want to make for the year is pretty simple .
Decide what you want to change . Set defined goals . Keep it simple and realistic .
Break it down to different categories ; Health , Financial , Social , Career and Spiritual . With so many goals to choose from , one can easily get overwhelmed . Pick a few things that are most important right now and make a plan to achieve them . After these are achieved you can move on to the other goals .
In your planning , break the resolution down as much as you can , as in weekly , monthly , quarterly . Keep it achievable .

Think about getting your family involved . Children ages seven and up are old enough to understand about improving . They can see in their school work that they can do more this year than they could do last year , and all it took was practice . Maybe they are reading better or they can do multiplication tables faster . They understand it takes effort to make changes in our lives .
Getting the whole family involved is a great way to help everyone stay motivated and accountable . Planning a reward for achieving certain levels can help encourage all of you to keep going to reach your desired success .

Pictured From Left to Right , Austin Makrancy , Carson Roth , NDES Art Teacher Julie McAdams , Leah Toney , and Stephanie Randolph were complete , they selected their favorite designs , painted the designs on the rocks , and coated them in clear lacquer . Each rock was labelled by the students so that rock hunters would know what to do with the rocks . Everyone involved enjoyed this project and hopes that the rocks bring area residents much joy .
Happy rock hunting , Dearborn County residents . Over seven hundred rocks were painted by NDES students and staff and will be hidden for you to enjoy . Please share your finds by sending us photos of the rocks you find , and we will be happy to share them .
Photos and brief descriptions of where the rocks were found can be emailed to editor @ goBEACONnews . com . Please include your name and where you live . Enjoy !

Sudoku Sudoku is a logical puzzle game that may seem difficult at first glance , but actually it is not as hard as it looks !
Fill a number in to every cell in the grid , using the numbers 1 to 9 . You can only use each number once in each row , each column , and in each of the 3 × 3 boxes .
The solution can be found on our website www . goBEACONnews . com / print _ edition . Click on the link for Sudoku and view the solution for this month and last .
Good luck and have fun !

From a dog ' s point of view

By BamBam & Tammy Turner
Hi guys , BamBam the handsome hound here coming to you from the shelter . Tis the season for giving , and I am just the perfect dog
BamBam to talk to you about that . Not everyone can have a dog or cat , maybe because of allergies or where they live , but they want to help out . I can tell you how you can do that . We get a lot of donations here at the shelter , and we are very thankful . But I would like to talk to you about a special fund that we have here to help the animals who are not as perfect as myself because they have special needs . PAWS has set up the Angel Fund , a special account for those in need . The fund is used for animals who come to the shelter and may need special treatments or surgeries . These poor animals often need help because of being mistreated , being hit by a car , or just circumstances due to birth defects . In the past , this fund has helped dogs who had to

have eyes removed or limbs removed . In some cases , they were even set up with a special cart to help them get around . Any animal who comes into the shelter gets the attention needed and any treatment required , but occasionally some need that special treatment this fund helps with . PAWS takes very good care of us . We are given everything that is important for us to be kept healthy and happy , such as our vaccinations , meds for fleas , and of course the most important things , FOOD , TOYS , and TREATS , all of which are on my Christmas list . ( By the way , if you look on Santa ’ s nice list , my name is on the top .) All of us are adopted out with no set fee ; we just ask for a goodwill donation . That means that you give what you can afford . Some give $ 20 and some have been known to give $ 100 and up to $ 500 per animal , so just give what ’ s in your heart . If you were to adopt me , I can tell you that I am priceless . I am 4 1 / 2 years old , walk great on a leash , and have very good manners . They say my only fault is that I have to be an only dog , but that ’ s not a fault , it just means that I will give you so much love , that you will need no one else . See , perfect . Come check me out for yourself . You can come and visit with us on Mon , Tues , 12-4 ; Thurs . 12-7 ; and Fri-Sun 12-4 . We are closed on Weds . You can also email the shelter at pawshumanecenter @ pawsdearborn . org with any questions . Come and share some holiday joy with us . We will be closed Thanksgiving Day . Take care of your furbabies . Love , BamBam

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful Holiday Season !
