DCH Collects for Children ’ s Christmas Coalition
Dearborn County Hospital collected toys and approximately $ 1,000 in cash for the benefit of the annual Coalition for Children ’ s Christmas Toys ( CCCT ). Donations to the drive were made by DCH and DCH Physician Partners employees , the DCH Medical Staff and DCH Board of Trustees members .
DCH Chief of Staff Ira Younger , M . D ., Ophthalmologist , presented the toys and monetary donations to Dee Hacker , CCCT Project Coordinator , and Karry Hollan , Executive Director of the Dearborn County Clearinghouse .
In addition , DCH Nurse Practitioner Susie Martin , spearheaded the drive at an area care center where staff , and residents and their families , filled three barrels . Many of the residents used their “ Bingo Bucks ” to contribute to the toy drive .
The Coalition for Children ’ s Christmas Toys , which is a cooperative endeavor supported by many area churches , organizations , schools , businesses and individuals , is coordinated by the Clearinghouse and staffed by its volunteers .
Ivy Tech Launches Strategic Plan
Ivy Tech Community College has kicked off its new five-year strategic plan : “ Our Communities . Your College . Pathways for Student Success and a Stronger Indiana .” The plan ’ s vision is for Ivy Tech students to earn 50,000 high-quality certifications , certificates , and degrees per year coinciding with workforce needs .
The plan aligns with Indiana ’ s goal to equip sixty percent of the workforce with a high-value , post-secondary degree or credential by 2025 . By achieving this goal , the Ivy Tech will help increase Hoosier per capita income and support the transformation of the state ’ s advanced industries economy .
The plan is comprised of seven goals , with detailed strategies and tactics accompanying each goal , and metrics to ensure success .
Strategies focused on student success include initiatives through improved technology , structured scheduling , eight week classes , and
improved academic advising . Recruitment strategies include targeted outreach to adult workers , as well as high school students with no postsecondary plans . Completion strategies include reverse transfer , expanding the Associate Accelerated Program ( ASAP ), and more short-term , industry-focused certificates . Completion strategies are centered on “ right-program , right-place , right-size ” in each community and focused career development into highdemand , high-wage jobs .
DCH FCU Contributes to Foundation Scholarship Fund
The Dearborn County Hospital Federal Credit Union ( DCHFCU ) made a donation of $ 1,500 to the Dearborn County Hospital Foundation Scholarship Program . This marks the DCHFCU ’ s fourth consecutive annual donation to the Foundation for a total of $ 5,000 .
“ The DCHFCU had another exceptional year and we want to share our success . Since its founding in 1962 , the Credit Union has been an excellent steward of our members ’ money and a respected member of the community ,” explained Mrs . Goodpaster . “ As part of our commitment to our members , the hospital and our Southeastern Indiana communities , we are happy to award $ 1,500 to the DCH Foundation for its 2018 scholarship program .”
