VEGAS LOCAL Opening up with my personal favorite, Cowabunga Bay may not feature as many rides, but the lower price and plethora of deals takes the cake! During May, Vegas locals get in for only $7.77 during Cowabunga’s Lucky Locals on Mondays and Fridays. Parking is only $7.00 year-round and all attractions are open. Season Passes are also available with special pricing thr ough May 30, 2017. This waterpark features a unique 60’s and 70’s surfer theme with vibrant colors, Rocky and Bullwinkle characters, and refurbished Volkswagen vehicles and surfboards. Some of the amazing attractions include Boardwalk Bay, a lazy river heated to about 80 degrees, Kids Cove, the Surf-A-Rama Wave Pool, and Zuma Zooma, a water slide that drops you from the floor at high speed. Cowabunga also features many different beverage bars and eateries; you can choose between Borris’ Bora-Bora Bar, Bullwinkle’s Boardwalk Grille, Dippin’ Dots, and more. They’re also famous for being one of the only places in the Valley that sells the Dole Pineapple Whip, which is crafted into a root beer float-style drink as well as some amazing funnel cake! Cowabunga Bay is located at 900 Galleria Drive in Henderson. The park is now open each weekend at 11:00 a.m. For more information, check out the website at www.CowabungaBayVegas.com. Located on the west side of Southern Las Vegas is an- other large waterpark, Wet’n’Wild. Rival to Cowabunga Bay, this park on the outskirts of Summerlin contains more attractions and slides, but tickets cost just a little extra. Parking goes for $8 a day, and you won’t find as many low-rate deals here. However, this is a larger park with a few more facilities and more eateries to choose from, like M1ke’s Grill, Waveside Cool Treats, and the Oasis Café. Among its more notable slides are the Canyon Cliffs, which drop you a whopping 33 feet at high speeds, the Desert Racers, Hoover Halfpipe and the Royal Flush Extreme. For an extra fee, you can obtain Xpress bands, allowing you to skip lines at some of the slides. Wet’n’Wild also has its share of events happening in May. On the 7th, take your kids to swim with real mermaids, and learn how to be just as elegant as these undersea creatures. On the 26th, the pool will host an 80’s themed party event for charity at 6pm. Wet’n’Wild is located at 7055 S. Fort Apache Road in Las Vegas. The park is now open each weekend at 11:00 a.m. For more information, check out the website at www.WetnWildLasVegas.com.
