11th Heaven! Devils Win The 2015 NWAC Baseball Championship!

5/25/15: The Lower Columbia College Red Devils are back on top of the NWAC Baseball world.

Tanner Olson, pitching on two days rest, went the distance and got the win as the Red Devils defeated Mt. Hood 6-1. It was the 11th baseball title in school history. Olson was named the tournament MVP after his heroics on Monday. The sophomore went nine innings, scattering six hits and striking out three. The Devil infield turned three spectacular double plays behind Olson.

LCC got on the board with three runs in the third, highlited by Seaver Whalen's 2 run homer. It was all Olson would need. Whalen was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Tanner Marty was 3 for 4. Ryan Littlefield and Lorin Archibald both went 2 for 5 with an RBI.

The Saints forced a second game with a 2-1 victory in 11 innings. Kade Kryzsko provided seven innings of shutout ball. The Saints won it on an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th off reliever Christian Parsons.

Kane Ulrich had an RBI double to drive in the lone Devil run. Jake Bakamus and Michael Forgione both had two hits. Forgione played both games on Monday after seperating his shoulder Sunday evening.

LCC head coach Eddie Smith wins the title in his second year at the helm. He joins Jack Riley, Scott Carnahan, Steve Farrington and Kelly Smith as LCC head coaches who have captured championships.

LCC assistant Grady Tweit wins his 3rd title as an LCC coach. Assistant coach Eric Lane also now has a title as a player and a coach.
