College Player Insight
Q: What was your biggest challenge during your college search while in high school?
A: My biggest challenge during my college search was finding a school that was the right fit for me. I had a couple of offers to play baseball out of high-school, but I wanted to choose one where I would get a good education. Not only was getting a good education a huge factor, I also wanted to go somewhere where I had the chance to play right from the start.
Q: What made you choose a NJCAA school over a CCCAA, NWAC, NAIA or NCAA school?
A: The thing that made me choose a NJCAA school over any other school is the fact that I had a goal to play Division I baseball. Out of high-school I had no offers to play Division I, so I figured if I went to a NJCAA school I could develop myself as a player both physically and mentally. Maybe after my two years at a Junior College I would become a good enough player to receive a scholarship to play Division I baseball. My choice to attend a NJCAA school has paid off for me because next year I will be attending a NCAA Division I school to play baseball.
Q: Why did you choose Cumberland County?
A: I chose Cumberland County for a couple of different reasons. The year before I joined the team they were the runners up in the National Championship. This showed me that they were a good team and I was going to go in and have a chance to compete for championships. Another thing was that I had a couple of kids from my high-school already going there to play baseball, and they had nothing but good things to say about the coaches and the school. The coaching staff had a huge impact on my decision. I liked every single one of them and they all seemed excited to get me on their team. Lastly, for being a Community College, Cumberland has one of the top academic programs in the country. Getting a great education was at the top of the list for me. to make.
Q: Now that you are playing college baseball, what is the biggest difference for you between high school ball and college ball?
