When it comes to choosing the right bat, there seems
to be a lot of confusion. Most think that the bigger the
bat the better. The truth is, bat speed is more important. A player should be able to swing their bat with a
fluid level motion and control when swinging at full
speed. Just because other players are using a larger
bat it doesn’t mean you need to. Get the right size
bat for you. When you do, you will start becoming a
better hitter. A bat that is too large for you will inhibit
proper swinging techniques and you will get frustrated.

Once you decide on the right size – then you have to
decide what material; alloy, composite, hybrid or any
special features - all influence the cost - $30 to $300.
But keep in mind these are all secondary to choosing the
right size. If you’re under the high school age, check the
drop ratio allowed in the league you participate.
The chart above is a guide – use it accordingly.
