LSU used seven pitchers allowing only one run on two hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts. On 4/30 they started their three game series vs. Mississippi State with a 5-3 - 14 inning win. Conner Hale blasted a double to right-centefield to score Jake Fraley and Alex Bregman with the go-ahead runs in the top of the 14th. #2 UCLA had three costly errors that doomed them as they fell, 2-1, in 13 innings to the Long Beach State on 4/28. #3 Louisville saw Blake Tiberi's 10th inning RBI single score Mike White that lifted Louisville to a 2-1 walk-off victory over Kentucky on 4/28. #4 TCU on 4/29 committed a season-high four errors that proved costly as they led to three unearned runs for Dallas Baptist and a TCU 4-6 loss. #5 Texas A&M won 8-7 in the 11th inning with Logan Nottebrok’s two-out, walk-off single scoring Michael Barash with the game-winning run vs. Texas State on 4/29. Weekend Play top five (Collegiate Baseball News): Baseball Wins Series at State, 11-4 by Bill Franques, Sr. Associate SID 5/1/15: STARKVILLE, Miss. – Shortstop Alex Bregman and third baseman Conner Hale each drove in three runs Friday night to lead top-ranked LSU to an 11-4 win over Mississippi State at Dudy Noble Field. LSU, which won its seventh SEC series in eight weekends, improved to 40-7 overall and 16-6 in the SEC. LSU has reached the 40-win mark seven times in coach Paul Mainieri’s nine seasons at the helm of the program. The Tigers are tied with Vanderbilt for first place in the overall SEC standings, and LSU has a 1.5 game lead over Texas A&M in the SEC Western Division.
