Truancy Intervention Project Truancy Intervention Project Welcomes New Volunteers By Caren Cloud Truancy Intervention Project of Georgia [email protected] T he Truancy Intervention Project Georgia recently hosted its Fall CLE training seminar in partnership with the Atlanta Bar Association and welcomed several new volunteers to its ranks. New volunteers Leigh Creighton Bond, Shauna Carmichael, Brittany Carter, Jordan Webber Edwards, Joyce Klemmer, Kaytie Tobias, and Jackie Tyo attended the October 15, 2015 training at the State Bar of Georgia and are now able to serve as TIP advocates in school or court based cases. Thank you to TIP’s current volunteers Erica Harrison of Alston & Bird LLP and Bill Fletcher of Gibson, Deal and Fletcher, P.C., who participated in the training as guest panelists and to Michelle Hession, school social worker with Fulton County Schools, who also shared her knowledge and experience with TIP’s newest volunteers. TIP would also like to thank Sutherland for its generous donation of time and training materials as well as the Litigation Section of the Atlanta Bar Association for their sponsorship and support. We are delighted to welcome our new TIP volunteers and extend special thanks to all of TIP’s volunteers and supporters throughout Atlanta’s legal community. E ach year TIP solicits its volunteers for feedback on how the program is working, their experiences, and most importantly, suggestions on how TIP can better serve both volunteers and families in the program. This year, as an added incentive to complete the volunteer survey, TIP entered all participants in a raffle to win a $150 Delta gift card. As a result, TIP saw a 16% increase in volunteer participants, but more importantly, we were able to gather more needed information for improving the program. The winner of this inaugural raffle was Lauren Milsteen, a project attorney at King & Spalding LLP. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Law School, Lauren has been a TIP volunteer since October 2014 and has worked on numerous Early Intervention and truancy ca
