SECTION UPDATE ACYL Section By Matt Simmons Shepherd Law, LLC [email protected] T he Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyer’s (the “ACYL”) Associates’ Campaign recently concluded another successful year of fundraising for non-profit legal organizations around the metro-Atlanta area. The fundraiser provides a unique opportunity to spread your donation around to 18 different legal non-profit organizations. Associates from all sizes of law firms contributed nearly $20,000 to help fund these organizations that are critical to serving the most disadvantaged clients in our community. The ACYL owes a special thanks to King & Spalding LLP and Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore LLP for raising the largest amount while also matching their associates’ donations dollar for dollar. Additional firms are finalizing the process of matching their associates’ donations, and will be recognized in the ACYL’s next update. The Official News Publication of the Atlanta Bar Association On the fun side, on Thursday, October 29, 2015, the ACYL held a joint happy hour with the Sole Practitioner/Small Firm Section (the “SPSF Section”). The event took place at the Beer Growler Brookhaven and was extremely well attended. The ACYL and the SPSF Section decided to hold the happy hour at this venue as they wanted to “think outside the box” and do an alternative take on the standard happy hour. Attendees at this event selected from over 50 craft beers on tap as well as wine, sangria, and even mead. While the ACYL will not be hosting any happy hour events during November and December, we greatly look forward to many more exciting events in 2016! Happy Holidays to you and yours.
