Legal Runaround R unners, walkers, tots and teams collected on September 12, 2015 at John Howell Park in Virginia Highlands to participate in The Legal Runaround 5K Race Walk and Tot Trot. The race is executed each year with the support of the Atlanta Police Department and their recruits who participate in the race. All proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Police Scholarship Fund of the Atlanta Bar Foundation which supports scholarships for children of slain or disabled Atlanta Police officers. Atlanta Bar Association President Harold Franklin presented Officer Kyle Jackson with the Peace Officer of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to a Peace Officer who has displayed exemplary qualities of professionalism, courage and/or who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Awards are given to the top male and female finishers in 14 THE ATLANTA LAWYER October/November 2015 various age brackets. The overall male and female winners were Simon Angove and Devin Ray. In the Masters Category, the male and female winners were Brian Mahony and Celia Sunne. Winners in the male age groups include: J.D. Blitch, Harold Franklin III, Mario Bolands, Jonathan Bentor, Daniel Yee, David Black and Hank Fellows. Winners in the female age groups include Ajanta Farrell, Amy Durrence, Lindsay Magaro, Anne Blitch, Lora Rust, and Annmarie Smith.
