SECTION UPDATE LITIGATION THE LITIGATION SECTION YEAR: BY THE NUMBERS What a year! In 2017-2018, we: • Were blessed with more than 1,100 paid section members, making us the largest Atlanta Bar Associa- tion section by far. • Obtained two new sponsors. • Gave away more than $40,000, including $23,400 to the Atlanta Bar Association’s Summer Law Internship Program (providing funding for 12 student interns), $5,000 to the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, $5,000 to Pro Bono March Madness, $2,500 to the National Association of Women Judges to help fund their Annual Conference in Atlanta, and $2,500 to the Atlanta Bar Foundation to help sponsor Yacht Rock. • Sold out all nine monthly breakfast meeting at the Ansley Golf Club. • Provided ten opportunities for CLE credit, all built around the Life of a Trial. • Introduced our popular Super Pass™ program, which increased season participation by more than 250%. The Super Pass™ provides admission to all nine breakfast meetings, the Meet the Judges Luncheon, the Bench & Bar Reception, and all Section socials (a $300+ value), for $175, and only $90 for lawyers practicing fewer than five years. • Gave the Logan Bleckley Distinguished Service Award to one deserving and appreciative Fulton County Superior Court Judge (Dee Downs). 28 May 2018 • Were recognized as the 2017-2018 Large Section of the Year. • Had one dozen hard-working Officers and Board members, who planned the CLE programs and made all of this possible: Rob Huestis, Chair Elect Louis Cohan, Secretary John Hadden, Treasurer Christina Baugh, Immediate Past Chair Elizabeth Adler Ty Brown Hon.
