SECTION UPDATE BANKRUPTCY The Bankruptcy Section held a Section breakfast on February 27, 2018. The breakfast was hosted in the offices of Troutman Sanders and included a presen- tation entitled: Lights, Camera, Action: The Georgia Film Tax Credit and Legal Issues Regarding the Lo- cal Film Industry. Julian A. Fortuna and Alan Clarke, both of Taylor English Duma LLP, discussed the film industry in Georgia and various tax incentives that have been offered to encourage further development of this industry in Georgia. Attendees included judges, bankruptcy practitioners and practitioners from other practice areas, and law students. The audience was engaged, asking questions and commenting on points raised by the panelists. Please consider joining the Bankruptcy Section for its March Madness CLE program, scheduled for March 27, 2018 from 12:00 PM - 4:45 PM. The event will be held at the State Bar of Georgia headquarters. It will include training for two of the Section’s pro bono initiatives - the Adversary Proceeding Project and the Reaffirmation Project. Through the Adversary Proceeding Project, volunteer attorneys are matched with qualified, pro se litigants in bankruptcy adversary proceedings pending before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Notably, participation in the program can provide opportunities for younger lawyers to gain experience managing clients, managing cases, preparing for trial and trying cases. Participation in the program does not require extensive knowledge of bankruptcy law, however, volunteers who do not regularly represent litigants in bankruptcy adversary proceedings are encouraged to attend this training session offered by the Section.
