SECTION UPDATE
TAX LAW
The Tax Law Section has had an exciting quarter,
with multiple CLE seminars and networking events.
On December 6, the Tax Law Section co-sponsored
its annual Liaison Committee Meeting with the
Georgia Department of Revenue (pictured below).
The annual Liaison Committee Meeting was held
at the Department and provided tax practitioners
administrative, judicial, and legislative, updates,
as well as an opportunity to participate in a Q&A
session with Department representatives. The li-
aison meeting was moderated by Frank O’Connell,
General Counsel for the Department of Revenue,
Richard C. Litwin of The Litwin Law Firm, P.C.,
and Mace E. Gunter, current chair of the State Bar
of Georgia Tax Law Section.
In October, the Tax Law Section hosted a joint
breakfast with the Estate Planning & Probate at the
Buckhead Club. The breakfast included a presen-
tation by guest speaker Christy Eckoff, the Philan-
thropic Counsel for the Community Foundation for
Greater Atlanta, discussing tax issues for non-profits
under the recent federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Upcoming events for 2019 include Pro Bono March
Madness, as well as a joint breakfast event with the
Real Estate section in April and a joint lunch event
with the Atlanta Chapter of the Georgia Society of
CPAs.
We look forward to seeing you in 2019!
