SECTION UPDATE PUBLIC INTEREST LAW The Public Interest Law Section has had a busy and engaging 2018-2019 calendar year. We had a small dinner with Stephen Bright and young public inter- est attorneys in November. Stephen Bright is the Southern Center for Human Rights’ founder and currently a law professor at Yale and Georgetown Universities. PILS hosted a voter registration drive in a low-income Atlanta community, and had our annual Christmas party. Looking forward to 2019, we are planning an immigration panel discussion, a small group dinner with former Deputy Attorney General and current partner at King and Spalding, Sally Yates, and a spring happy hour. We hope you will join us at one of our upcoming events. By Aarti Sharma Georgia Charter Schools Association [email protected] WHY I JOINED THE ATLANTA BAR “THROUGH THE ATLANTA BAR, I HAVE MET LAWYERS WHO I COUNT AMONG MY BEST FRIENDS AND HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED TO MENTORS WHO HAVE STOOD BESIDE ME AND GUIDED ME THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE CAREER. THE ATLANTA BAR HAS HELPED ME LEARN ABOUT HOW TO BE A LAWYER AND WHO I WOULD BE AS A LAWYER.” NICOLE G. IANNARONE, ATLANTA BAR ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT 34 December 2018/January 2019
