ATLANTA BAR FOUNDATION UPDATE 2018 Grants Celebration Luncheon By Betsy Griswold Atlanta Bar Foundation President United Parcel Service Corporate Legal Department In December 2018 the Atlanta Bar Foundation finished the year with one of its most rewarding events, the annual Grants Cele- bration Luncheon. The luncheon took place on December 12, 2018 and was graciously hosted by the law firm of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough. The Atlanta Bar Lawyer Referral and Information Service and Foundation fundrais- ers--End of Summer Party and A Courthouse Line theatre pro- duction--contributed to the gen- eral grants fund and enabled the Foundation to generously support the worthy organizations listed be- low. Grant funding administered through the Foundation supports pro bono legal service providers throughout the community— many of which were estab- lished by the Atlanta Bar As- sociation. This year, fourteen organizations and programs received funding support for 2018-19 totaling $201,000. Representatives from the fol- lowing organizations were in attendance: Atlanta Bar As- sociation Summer Law In- ternship Program, Atlanta Bar Association Minority & 14 December 2018/January 2019 Diversity Clerkship Program, At- lanta Legal Aid Society, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network, Truancy Intervention Project, Georgia Appleseed Cen- ter for Law & Justice, Georgia In- nocence Project, Georgia Justice Project, Gideon’s Promise, Latin American Association, Lawyers For Equal Justice, Pro Bono Part- nership of Atlanta and the South- ern Poverty Law Center. As we reflect back on the accom- plishments of the past year, we would like to thank the members of the Atlanta Bar Association and others in our legal community who generously contribute financially and through your volunteer hours to the many programs sponsored by the Atlanta Bar Association and the Foundation. We encourage you to continue to stay involved in the good work of the Foundation and the many pro bono organizations who serve our community. I look forward to connecting with you in 2019 as we make it a great year for the Atlanta Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Foundation and continue the good work for others.
