A Successful S.L.I.P. The Atlanta Bar Association Conducts Its Summer Law Internship Program For High School Students For A 27 TH Straight Summer NEKIA HACKWORTH JONES Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough SLIP Co-Chair [email protected] T he 2019 Atlanta Bar Association Summer Law Internship Program (SLIP) for High School Students had 18 August/September 2019 a terrific Summer, with a record 54 interns from over 38 schools across seven Atlanta area counties! At the conclusion of this summer’s program, a first-time intern wrote a thank you note in which she stated, “The Internship Program’s force of beautiful cycles and professionalism has created a grit and stamina in me that previously didn’t exist.” (We will have a hard time adding anything to that sentiment but please bear with us). This year marks the twenty-seventh straight S. WADE MALONE Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough SLIP Co-Chair [email protected] summer of the Summer Law Internship Program. We were honored to co-chair SLIP with Natasha Perdew Silas (Federal Defenders Program) and Darrius M. Wood (Equal Justice Works). Darrius was a first- time Co-Chair and participated in SLIP in 2006 and 2007. Sarah Arnold (Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough) continued her outstanding service as the Internship Program Director making sure every detail, big and small (and with 54 interns there were a million of them) was handled with perfection.
