ship Program to the Minority and Diversity Clerkship
Program, the Atlanta Bar spent its summer cultivating
and supporting the next generation of lawyers. Speak-
ing of the next generation, our incredibly active Law
School Outreach Committee met monthly throughout
the year to work with our law school partners and help
plan programming to assist our law student members
as they transition into practice. Learning does not
end in law school (which our CLE Board of Trustees
knows well), and we continued to present some of
the best CLE programming in the area. The Lawyer
Referral and Information Service diligently answered
thousands of calls a week from those in need of legal
services, and worked persistently to match those in
need with lawyers who can serve them. Lastly, our
Sections have had breakfast, lunch and evening pro-
grams nearly every day of the week.
This year has passed by in a flash – and with as much
as we have done, we cannot compact it all into one
short column. With Ryan Walsh at the helm as Presi-
dent next year, and a talented and dedicated group
of leaders lined up for the coming years, the Atlanta
Bar is in great hands. I cannot wait to see their plans
put into action.
We have much to be proud of this year and I hope
you will join us at the Piedmont Driving Club on May
21, 2019 at noon for our Annual Meeting to thank our
leaders, celebrate a wonderful year and wish our new
leadership all the best and give them our full support.
The end of this bar year coincides with the end of my
tenure in Atlanta. I cannot think of a better way to con-
clude 17 years of practice and teaching in Atlanta than
by serving as President of the Atlanta Bar Association.
Thank you for entrusting me with the leadership of this
great organization. It has been a tremendous honor
and a privilege due to the committed and dedicated
members of our organization who truly are Lawyers
Who Serve.
