A View From the Bench By Jessica J. Wood Bodker Ramsey Andrews Winograd & Wildstein, P.C. [email protected] In the Atlanta Bar Association, good things come in twos! For the second year running, the Law School Out- reach Committee has partnered with the Judicial and Litigation sections to offer law students and burgeon- ing new attorneys the opportunity to engage with jurists from a broad spectrum of benches in the Metro Atlanta area. Aptly named,“ A View from the Bench,” the program was held on March 28, 2019 at Georgia State University College of Law. The event featured a panel discussion providing insight into how judges evaluate work product and the attor- neys who appear before them, how staff attorneys assist judges and the process, and how practitioners can make the best impressions. A View from the Bench kicked off with an inspiring introduction by Judge Leigh Martin May of the U.S. District Court, followed by a panel discussion among Judge Sara Doyle, Court of Appeals of Georgia, Judge Susan Edlein, State Court of Fulton County, Judge Lillian Caudle, Magistrate Court of Fulton County, Judge Renata Turner, Juvenile Court of Fulton County, and attorneys Ana Maria Martinez, Staff Attorney for DeKalb State Court Judge Dax E. Lopez, and attorney Hillary Kinsey Luckacs. After the panel discus- sion, law students were invited to mingle with the jurists and attorneys from the panel for more in-depth conversation on lingering questions or additional commentary. The Law School Outreach Commit- tee extends special thanks to Evelyn Knapp and Georgia State Univer- sity College of Law for hosting the panel discussion as well as to Judge Susan Edlein, Chair of the Judicial Section and Rob Huestis, Chair of the Litigation Section, for partnering on such a rewarding program for the benefit of the future leaders of the Atlanta Bar Association.
