For those who have out of towners arriving for graduation, this is an amazing place to introduce them to some local Southern cuisine. I came here for a friend’s birthday dinner and absolutely loved it. The res- taurant was able to accommodate the ten of us with regular seating, but if you have an exceptionally large group private dinning is also available as an option. The menu offers gluten free op- tions, and some are meals prepared with family-style dinning in mind. I chose the buttermilk fried chicken since I was aware of its illustrious reputation prior to my arrival and was not disappointed. It was every- thing proper fried chicken should be served over a bed of mashed potatoes and collard greens and surrounded by a sea of honey- jus thyme. The cornbread was so heav- enly that just thinking about it puts me in danger of salivating, and if you have never had fried green tomatoes before, make sure you experience a taste before you leave. Self-parking and valet parking are unavailable at the Midtown loca- tion so you will have to pay to park at one for the surrounding park- ing lots in the area. The Buckhead and Vinings locations have valet parking. First, make reservations! Remember that you are not the only one graduating. Next, be mindful of your group size. Some restaurants are better equipped to deal with larger groups than others and may even suggest private dinning if you plan ahead. Perhaps the most important tip if dinning in the city, keep parking availability in mind. Some guests will be unused to city parking so you should prepare them ahead of time if self-parking is unavail- able. Spare them an introduction to our local nuisance, aggressive Park Atlanta ticketers. Lastly, enjoy your post-graduation bliss and avoid dis- cussing the bar during dinner. Bar prep probably starts in a few days so enjoy your freedom while it lasts. ▪ South City Kitchen locations: Buckhead 3350 Peachtree Rd #175 Atlanta, GA 30326 404.815.6677 The Official News Publication of the Atlanta Bar Association THE ATLANTA LAWYER 19
