the support of artists, as well as to Private Eye, ToonPool, ICORN and Freemuse for

We have been overwhelmed by the extraordinary response and generosity of the
artists who have donated work and are extremely grateful to those who have shared
their and their families’ stories of exile. CARA and its beneficiaries are deeply indebted
to you all and we hope to do you justice in respect of the funds we raise at the auction
in support of the CARA Fellowship Scheme. CARA would also like to thank the Syrian
cartoonist, Ali Al Ferzat, for his permission to reproduce some of his cartoons.
Last but not least, CARA would like extend its thanks to its much abused interns,
Mary Atkinson and Elise Hannaford, for all their hard work in bringing this event together,
in twisting arms, and in helping to compile the catalogue, as well as to Stephanie
Stafford for her invaluable research and drafting for additional catalogue content.
