Robert Orchardson?british Study for Endless Façade 2011 Edition 1/50 Signed (on rear) Framed Print 37 x 25 cm Guide Price £150 Robert was born in Glasgow in 1976. His work draws upon sources from modernist architecture and futuristic d esign, to utopian texts, stage sets or details from science fiction films. These appropriated fragments frequently reflect a sense of aspiration, offset by failure as they attempt to give form to that which is inherently intangible. His sculptural installations and print-based works allow this cultural flotsam to surface and collectively become something new; disparate elements working together to explore a tension between our immediate situation and that which is unknown. Robert’s work is held in several public and private collections internationally. Recent public commissions include work for 15 for 150: Art on the Underground (London) Kaleidoscope (The Hive, Worcester) and Below Another Sky (The Scottish Print Network). Solo exhibitions include Endless Facade (Ikon Gallery, Birmingham and Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver), Edge of the Superstructure (Galerie Ben Kaufmann, Berlin), Perfect Vacuum (Wilkinson Gallery, London), Robert Orchardson (Economist Plaza, London), Symmetriad (Galerie Ben Kaufman, Munich), and Beyond (Monitor, Rome). 114 The Art of Resistance?
