ANN DUNBAR ART
I am an award-winning British artist, living and working in Paris, France.
My art is a history of travel to far-away places and wild parts of the natural world. I
enjoy searching for hidden places that go unnoticed in our busy world. Additionally
my art is not just about a vision, but about an emotion. The ambience of many
pieces transposes feelings of calm, serenity and mindfulness contemplation. The
power of colour and textural delight is deployed directly from nature’s beauty onto
the paper to feed your soul and uplift your spirit.
My expression is figurative with a romantic, contemporary, impressionistic style and
for a luxurious touch; I employ lush embroidery to my painting. The combination
is unique and unusual. The embroidery itself is a provocative statement of charm.
However, the intricate detail of the stitching, known as “needle painting”, is like an
enchanting magical wand bringing out a vividness and lifelike quality to the scene.
The rich, exciting textures add depth as well as a three dimensional effect to the
atmospheric transparent washes of watercolour.
